The old tree white tea is produced in Yunnan, and made by the tea material from old tea trees. It is also called as Gu Shu Bai Lu (Old Tree White Dew). Most of the old tree white tea produced in Yunnan will be compressed into tea cakes and touchas – similar to pu erh tea – which is sometimes referred to as white pu erh. White tea in China, had historically been primarily produced in North Fujian area. However as Fujian White Tea become more and more popular in recent years, the price has risen a lot. Aslo, due to the big yield and demand, some tea trees in Fujian get over-harvested which causes the tea quality to deteriorates. Yunnan old tea tree leaf is ideal for making high grade white peony tea. It grows naturally without any stimulants or pollutants and has rich quality contents. The processing of white tea is simple and unrefined and because of this the original leaf quality noticeably reflects on the finished tea quality.
