As he was making tea from these tea leaves one night, one of his neighboring farmers smelled the strong flowery fragrance coming from his house. He came by to ask him what kind of tea plant he had found that gave off such a fascinated fragrance. The farmer was afraid that his neighbor would steal his newly developed tea trees, so he said this tea plant gave off a duck shit flavor to discourage his suspicious neighbors from wanting to steal his tea plants. That is how it got the name Ya Shi Xiang. Nowadays Ya Shi Xiang is a famous cultivar among the Phoenix Oolong family. It has a charming flowery fragrance and strong, mellow sweet aftertaste.
